Internship for Ladakhi Youth

sā Ladakh Biennale is offering internships to young people from Ladakh who want to work in the arts, culture, and creative fields. This is a chance to be part of the world’s highest regenerative art Biennale, not as a visitor, but as an active member of the team.

 

The internship runs for three months, from 1 June to 30 August 2026, covering the full build-up and the Biennale itself (1–10 August), which will unfold across sites along the Leh–Kargil corridor.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to Ladakhi youth who are interested in contributing to the sā Ladakh Biennale through on-ground learning, collaboration, and engagement with their own landscapes and communities. Applicants may have an interest in areas such as:

  • Site leadership and coordination

  • Art guidance and public interaction

  • Art installation and production support

  • Exhibition coordination and operations

  • Photography and videography

  • Research, documentation, and regenerative practices

 

You do not need formal qualifications or prior experience. What matters most is curiosity, responsibility, willingness to learn, and a meaningful connection with Ladakh, its communities, and its landscapes.

Internshipn Roles

1. sā Site Leaders

Lead and support specific Biennale sites by coordinating with artists, local communities, volunteers, and operational teams. As Site Leaders, interns will closely engage with their own landscapes and communities while helping manage artworks, activities, and visitor experiences on-ground.

Skills you will gain: Leadership, community coordination, local site management, collaborative working, and deeper engagement with Ladakh’s cultural and ecological landscapes.

 

2. sā Art Guides

Introduce visitors to the artworks and help them understand the relationship between art, climate, culture, community, and the land of Ladakh. Art Guides will play an important role in sharing local perspectives and creating meaningful conversations across cultures.

Skills you will gain: Public engagement, communication, cultural interpretation, storytelling, and confidence in representing local knowledge and experiences.

3. sā Art Installers

Support artists and operational teams in creating and installing land-based and regenerative artworks across the Biennale. Interns will work closely with artists while understanding materials, terrain, and traditional knowledge connected to the region.

Skills you will gain: Artwork installation, hands-on production experience, teamwork, sustainable material practices, and technical coordination in outdoor environments.

4. sā Exhibition Coordinators

Support the overall coordination of exhibition spaces and site movement across the Biennale. This role involves managing schedules, assisting teams, coordinating visitors, and helping maintain smooth operations between multiple sites and activities.

Skills you will gain: Exhibition management, logistics coordination, organisational planning, teamwork, and large-scale event operations.

5. sā Photographers & Videographers

Document artworks, performances, workshops, landscapes, and community interactions through photography and film. Interns will contribute to building the visual memory and storytelling archive of the Biennale from a local perspective.

Skills you will gain: Photography, videography, visual storytelling, documentation, editing, and creative archiving.

6. sā Regenerative Researchers

Document the regenerative, ecological, and social dimensions of the Biennale through writing, interviews, field notes, and local interactions. Researchers will also support SOPs, workbooks, and impact assessment processes connected to the Biennale’s community and environmental engagement.

Skills you will gain: Field research, impact assessment, report writing, documentation, SOP development, and regenerative studies.
